Flaming Yet Unburned!

Your blessed and fruitful virginity is like the bush, flaming yet unburned, which Moses saw on Sinai. Pray for us, Mother of God.

Grant, we pray, that we may experience the intercession of her, through whome we were found worthy to receive the author of life, our Lord Jesus Christ. (Prayer for Jan. 1)

Happy Mother of God Day!

  1. I just noticed that the 1st reading for today's OOR in iBreviary is from the latest edition of the NAB NT (1986). The one in divineoffice.org must be from the 1970 ed. Ditto for the LOTH.

  2. That's interesting. I've often had the impression that there were differences here and there between ibreviary and Christian Prayer, but never got around to looking them up. I'm sure there was an antiphon last week that was a little different.
One of my pipe dreams for the "maybe/someday" revision that the bishops are supposed to discuss this year would be using the readings from either our Sunday lectionary or the Revised Standard translation of the Bible. Of the two, the Lectionary is more likely to happen.
